You’re probably already making money on Fiverr.

If you’re not, this is not going to be some method that claims “If you do X, you will make Y!”

The reality is I don’t know you guys. I don’t know your skillset, how driven you are and how much time and effort you are willing to commit to this making money online thing.

That being said, what this blog post will teach you and show you is the approach you should have on Fiverr and the approach you’ve probably been taking as a seller on Fiverr (which is wrong).

Fiverr continues to grow and thus, continues to become a very competitive marketplace for sellers.

Is this a bad thing?


Guys, understand that the reason it’s competitive is because it works. Competition is a good sign, that means other people are making money. It wouldn’t be a competitive marketplace if people weren’t making money or if it wasn’t worth it.

That being said, because it is competitive, a lot of new sellers struggle.

They create an account on Fiverr and they say to themselves “Okay! I’m going to sell X amount of Gigs a day!”.

I will admit, I was guilty of this.

I am so guilty of this, that I used to teach this. I used to teach sellers that volume was important. That it was important to get X number of orders of Gigs per day to make a lot of money on Fiverr.

Of course if you sell 20 Gigs a day, you’ll be crushing it on Fiverr. But that’s not the approach you should take anymore.

Fiverr changes their search algorithms too frequently now and it seems everyone has seen a drop in orders per day.

So what do we do as sellers? Well, there are two things I suggest. Also at the end of this blog post, I’m going to share a killer tip, for free.

The first thing is to take your service and strip it down. Sell a bare-bones service for $5 and include all the essentials that buyers would want in the Gig extras.

This was, the average price of your Gig goes from $5 to $15-$40.

Think of it like this: To make $80 a day on Fiverr, I would teach people to get 20 orders a day.

Do you know how difficult that is with most Gigs?

However, if you sold 3 Gigs a day, that each made you around $26, it would net you around the same result, you’d have less orders to complete, and you’d only need to sell 3 orders a day which is not that difficult if your most popular Gig gets a few thousand views a day.

So for example, let’s pretend I was selling video testimonials.

Instead of offering the whole shebang for $5, I would make the bare, $5 Gig: I will create a 30 second video testimonial for $5.

The Gig extras?

Express Gig, deliver in 1 day: $15
HD, High quality video: $10
Costume/set: $20
Editing, music: $20
1 minute: $10

I’d also include in the Gig description that every other minute on the video testimonial is $10. See the sneakiness there?

The average price of this Gig would be over $25 each time because all the cool and essential stuff is in the Gig extras. This is what you need to be doing. Looking at your service and seeing how you can strip essential features from it, putting them as Gig extras and piece-mealing them to your buyer.

If you don’t think this is fair, you’re out-of-your-mind considering the bargain you’re already getting as a buyer. We only make $4 on every $5 on Fiverr!

The second thing you can do, and this might only work for a few people, is to make money outside of Fiverr, using Fiverr as a platform to generate leads and find new clients.

So, I am a web developer. In the beginning, when I started out on Fiverr, I used Fiverr as a platform to find clients for my web design business.

Now, you might be thinking “Ah, every time I deliver a Gig, I give the buyer a link to my website where I sell my web design services and have my portfolio!”

No. If you do this, your Fiverr account will get deleted.

However, I have a very sneaky and clever way to get traffic to your business’ website. So whether you’re a graphic designer, writer, web developer or whatever, you can offer a bare bones $5 service as a way to generate leads to your full service business.

To do this, every time you deliver a Gig, attach a PDF. This PDF will be an invoice or writeup of the work performed for the buyer on Fiverr.

The trick? Brand this PDF. Put your logo, and include a link to your website under your logo. So, technically, you’re not breaking the rules since you’re not sending the buyer a direct link. You’re simply providing them a formal writeup or invoice of the work performed, with the branding of your website and business.

I used this trick for many months in the beginning until I found other really successful Gigs that helped me grow my Fiverr earnings over a few short months. You can read more about that in my book.
